Interstitial Cystitis, Bladder, and Urinary Tract Infections: Natural Treatments and Healing
Learn natural healing strategies and treatments and root cause problems of these issues.
Interstitial Cystitis
This is such an important blog post to share - healing and help is available and not even very expensive! But people commit suicide because of Interstitial Cystitis (IC) without getting the right information - and many doctors, including urologists, do not know root causes or natural treatments.
The pain is so unbearable. I have IC and used to sweat profusely during an “attack”. Seriously, I thought blood might come out of my pores because of the stress and pain and I’ve been in labor dilated to a 10 without drugs - and didn’t think I would sweat blood then! That’s how bad the “attacks” are.
“Don’t go to the emergency room - there’s nothing they can do for you”. That was it. That’s all the advice and suggestions I got for help. And it was good advice. There is nothing they knew to do for me. They tried the pills they had - they didn’t work. They tried a couple of treatments. Those didn’t work.
No wonder people commit suicide.
“I’m so scared! I don’t want to commit suicide! Will this get better?” Cried the random stranger on the phone to me. I had posted some of the strategies I had learned to help with IC on a forum and she found that information, tracked me down on Facebook, and asked if she could call me. “I know you’re not a doctor but I’ve already got better information from you than the doctors! Please help me, I’m desperate!”
I’ve been annoyed with the medical field for quite some time because of stuff like this. Shouldn’t we have studies looking into these kind of problems since it’s so horrible and there’s no good advice?
Ah, but you see - the answers I found do not help the pharmaceutical companies. Nor will they make any corporations rich. So…probably not going to hold my breathe for any of this to become common knowledge in the medical schools.
Natural Healing for IC
None of this is intended as medical advice or suggestions. This is for informational purposes only. I am not a doctor. Seek out qualified healthcare professionals for you individual healthcare needs.
MOST IMPORTANT: I got off of fluoride and detoxed mercury. IC happens because the bladder lining has been destroyed to different extents (which is why there are different severities) and needs to be healed the best your body can.
Mercury: The Quintessential Anti-Nutrient points out that a cause of IC can be mercury. I had silver fillings in my mouth for decades.
I cannot find any articles that state fluoride is a cause, however, others with IC have found fluoride was the cause for them and my IC became so much better once I completely got off of fluoride. Sodium fluoride does eat through concrete…so could probably eat through a bladder lining.

We get most of our fluoride through the skin so not showering in fluoride is needed for me as well as drinking distilled water. To learn more about filters, you can read my article HOW AND WHY TO DETOX FLUORIDE Out of Your Body and Tap Water! Fluoride Trial is Over: Evidence Proves Fluoride is Toxic to the Brain.
Strawberries are the worst food offender for IC for me. The random caller that tracked me down on Facebook said she had eaten a whole carton of strawberries. She had no idea that was the cause of her extreme flare. Neither of us have any idea why this is true for us. But this information might save another. Tomato sauce and coffee used to hurt my bladder but as I’ve healed it, neither cause any problems for me. I have a severe case of IC and it’s not fully healed but I can manage it fine. Here is the Interstitial Cystitis (IC) Diet for other foods and drinks that be beneficial or hurtful.
I just started Diatomaceous earth (DE), which has been an amazing fluoride, mercury, and toxin detox and seems to work differently than other detoxes I’ve tried and helps my connective tissue. DE contains silica and is also supposed to be helpful for hair, skin, joints, ligaments, and teeth. Perhaps this will heal my bladder further. Read more at: Dr. Axe Diatomaceous Earth and Removal of Fluoride from Drinking Water by Sorption Using Diatomite Modified with Aluminum Hydroxide and Performance of a diatomite-based sorbent in removing mercury from aqueous and oil matrices.
C60 Fullerenes; the Antioxidant that is HUNDREDS OF TIMES more potent than Vitamin C also helped my body and bladder tremendously. However, I don’t know how to compare it to DE. I did C60 first, for a year before I tried DE. I’ve noticed that different detox supplements work differently so a combination has been helpful for me.
I am also going to try Softwave therapy that heals connective tissue and is basically a cheaper form of stem cell therapy for me. It’s been incredible for healing my tissue in other areas as well as damaged nerves. It’s also been able to detox the tissues in my body like no other treatment. I plan on writing an article about all that it has done for me when I finish treatments - but that might be awhile. I suggest researching this treatment yourself and find out if Softwave is something you want to try.
For some people, bacteria is thought to be a cause of IC. Diatomaceous earth (DE) is a powerful detoxer that can remove fluoride, mercury, and other toxins. I used Paratrex that has DE in it for parasite removal and to detox. I assume it could probably help bacteria in the bladder also since it contains neem oil and clove (used to treat UTIs by some people).
Other people have done ozone therapy for the bladder, called bladder insufflations, at treatment centers and said they had good results for killing the bacteria. Effectiveness of intravesical ozone in interstitial cystitis by the O'Leary–Sant symptom index
Marshmallow root herb is good for soothing the bladder for short term relief or you can make it into a tea.
I tried essential oils and oil combinations that are recommended online and nothing helped until I made my own:
OR you can try just geranium oil and magnesium spray and rub those directly onto the outside of your bladder and see if that works well enough for you- the geranium oil needs to be diluted in a carrier oil like jojoba or coconut oil). I don’t know if that will be as effective as my cream but it’s worth a shot. Together, magnesium pray and my cream works best for me for symptom relief. I spray magnesium on my skin and rub all over where my bladder sits. Geranium oil is such a powerful anti-inflammatory oil that even pharmaceutical companies are looking into using it in their concoctions for inflammation.
Dr. Russell Blaylock says Magnesium is what those with IC need. I found that spraying magnesium onto my bladder and rubbing in worked but taking pills didn’t help me. New research is showing that our skin absorbs magnesium best. That’s what I found too. I use Ancient Minerals Magnesium Bath Flakes because I found this brand worked better than the other brands for me - although I don’t know why.
