Personal Testimony (then I cover the science with links)
I am getting so many benefits from drinking organic Kombucha tea - and I just started - that I wanted to write a post about it in case anyone else would like to try this wonderful detox and healing tea.
I am hypersensitive to fluoride so thought I couldn’t drink Kombucha tea (non-organic tea contains a lot of fluoride because tea leaves hold fluoride - green and black teas contain the most, white tea like chamomile less, but herbal teas almost none. Organic tea has less fluoride - but some people say that isn’t true) but I have researched and found a brand I can drink.
Organic is necessary but I also needed spring water or distilled. Hyvee brand is organic, made with spring water, and is made with organic black tea but some fluoride is removed during the fermentation process of Kombucha- enough so that EVEN I CAN DRINK IT in moderation! I was told there are only a handful of people in the world as hypersensitive to fluoride as I am. So, if I can - surely others can too - in moderation.
With that said, many brands of Kombucha tea, including organic, have insanely high levels of fluoride in them (you can check on the website thetruthaboutfluoride - he has tested many brands) and some websites, including that site, say organic isn’t any better and they have tested them.
I don’t know if any of them tested an organic brand with spring water. But I do know that I react quickly and badly to fluoride but I can drink the Organic Ginger juice, Hyvee Brand, and do well. I did not do well with other brands I tried that were organic but did not use fluoride free water. So…you will have to check for yourself. Completely worth testing them out and worth the health benefits to me!
Detox supplements that work for me but do make me sick because of pulling fluoride , include zeolites (pulls out so much fluoride I went to the ER - yikes), C60 (absolutely wonderful at detoxing heavy metals and mercury - couldn’t find anything else that worked for me, including homeopathic remedies and herbals, but C60 did pull fluoride so I felt sick but not about to die like zeolites and I must go slow and not take it very often), also fluoride tea, which worked great for detoxing fluoride out of my teeth and jaw for me - but again also made me sick; diatomaceous earth is also great at detoxing fluoride and heavy metals for me, but also makes me sick. Ionbiome detoxed well also and was the only supplement that healed my gut - it did make me sick but I did it in slowly and spread out how often I took it for about 1 year anyway and was glad I did. Essential oils also work too well to detox me - I made my own creams and face oils with essential oils - but had to stop using them because they detox so well I become sick.
Every detox that worked for me, worked differently and detoxed different areas (I could feel pulling - can’t explain that well unless it happens to you - other people have felt pulling in different areas of their body too).
Kombucha tea, has also worked differently and detoxed different areas - I felt a buzzing going through my whole body and pulling from connective tissue and buzzing in my head, and felt so much better the next day. I thought it was probably pulling fluoride and would be bad - it does detox but it wasn’t bad and my body handled it well.
I didn’t feel sick or awful and felt like I had more energy - probably thanks to the bioavailable B-vitamins in the drink too. When I try to take vitamin C (even whole foods supplements) or B-vitamins, even methylated, I feel sick. But for some reason, my body handles the detoxing of Kombucha tea well and I do fine with the natural B-vitamins and vitamin C - which is also in other foods but for some reason I don’t get the same benefit of energy. I did feel worse when I tried drinking 2 16 oz bottles a day, that was too much detoxing for me, but 1 16 oz bottle a few times a week, is fine for me. Usually too much of anything, ends up back-firing. I will cut down to as few drinks as necessary a week to get the benefits without the sickness if that ends up too much.
Since I tend to be more sensitive to everything than anyone I know, I can’t imagine that many other people would have problems with the tea, unless they are allergic to something in it, which is possible.
Because of all of these benefits, I wanted to get the word out so even people avoiding fluoride, like others who are hypersensitive or those who were poisoned by a fluoroquinolone antibiotic and now are avoiding fluoride, can look into this as well. And also for anyone else wanting to try the tea for possible health benefits and help with chronic illness.
I have family members with chronic illness who are going to start drinking Kombucha because of my benefits. I will update this post if they notice any significant benefits (cancer, Parkinson’s, diabetes, and high blood pressure are all things they are dealing with currently).
However, like everything else in life, this may or may not work for them, for you, or anyone else. Typically, many foods, treatments, and therapies in the areas of emotional, physical and spiritual health go together into someone becoming or staying healthy and well.
I do many things in all areas to continue healing, so saying 1 thing will heal is not very useful. Many people have tried to advise me on how to get better - not understanding the fluoride issue or the structural problems that are beyond detox and food - maybe you’ve experienced this too. For some people, one adding in one food or drink or taking one supplement is helpful but for many people it’s not.
I’ve had to do years of ozone injections - more than any 1,000 people combined would usually ever need, softwave therapy -more than anyone would typically need over my entire body, avoid fluoride as completely as possible like it goes against my religion. I also walk as much as I can (cannot yet do weights, even light ones yet due to injuries from the antibiotic - I’m still hopeful after I’m done with softwave, I will be able to - it does heal connective tissues and stimulate stem cells), eat mostly organic - except when I eat out occasionally, have done the emotional work to heal past traumas and wounds, continue in emotional health practices, create community and healthy friendships, regularly practice spirituality and read the Bible, and have detoxed in many different beneficial ways. And of course, I have done many supplements, homeopathic treatments, and other therapies like quantum biofeedback and hyperbaric oxygen chamber treatment (HBOT) which was hugely beneficial to my brain after being poisoned.
Everything is dependent on everything else going on in the body and how much healing energy our body has to heal. For example, a small child can grow back a part of the skull when completely cut out. An older child cannot. I know this because my son had the top of his skull cut out completely at age 3 because of craniostynosis and his plastic surgeon said that at his young age it would grow back completely with just a sprinkling of bone dust. It did.
The plastic surgeon said that the older someone is, the less healing energy or power they have. And I think we all know that - though I didn’t understand how much healing power we lose as we age until we experienced that.
Mitochondrial disorders, chronic illness, autoimmune disorders, neurodegenerative disorders, thyroid disorders, and more are known to reverse, depending on the severity, the right kind of treatments, and age as well as other factors.
An article in Nature Aging came out August of 2024 stated that we age fast at two ages: 44 and 60. “The analysis revealed consistent nonlinear patterns in molecular markers of aging, with substantial dysregulation occurring at two major periods occurring at approximately 44 years and 60 years of chronological age.” HERE
With all the many factors of healing, it’s hard to say one thing or another “is healing” me but I can definitely say what has helped me and that I feel alot better drinking kombucha tea than before I started drinking it. And that is saying alot.
With that said - here’s the science!
Science of Kombucha Tea
Detox toxins and pharmaceuticals and eliminate oxidative stress that causes chronic disease and illness? Lose weight without Ozempic! Reverse diabetes type 2? Lower blood pressure and neutralize cholesterol deposits, and cure cancer? What kind of magic are people talking about with this Kombucha tea? (Again, the results may vary widely!)
While the detoxing and healing may seem magical, there is science and thousands of years of the practice of drinking the fermented drink for health benefits.
Kombucha tea “originated in China where the “Divine Che” was prized 220 BC during the Tsin Dynasty for its detoxifying and energizing properties (Roche, 1998). In 414, Doctor Kombu brought the tea fungus to Japan from Korea to cure the digestive troubles of the Emperor. “Tea Kvass” was introduced into Russia by oriental merchants and then into Eastern Europe and Europe around the turn of this century.” (Tea, Kombucha, and health: a review)
While American scientists and researchers state that any conclusions cannot be reached because there isn’t enough science on Kombucha (Tea, Kombucha, and health: a review), scientists and researchers from other parts of the world, have reached a different conclusion (as science is never settled and rarely agreed upon).

GLUCURONIC ACID FROM FERMENTED BEVERAGES: BIOCHEMICAL FUNCTIONS IN HUMANS AND ITS ROLE IN HEALTH PROTECTION
“Normally produced by a healthy liver, GlcUA is the most powerful natural detoxifier “ {Glucuronic Acid (GLcUA) is found in Kombucha tea.}
“Insufficient detoxification causes “metabolic poisoning” – an accumulation of toxic metabolites that are not processed by the liver and excreted within cells, tissues and organs. Metabolic poisoning can originate kidney failure and inefficient liver functions, thus leading to the accumulation of toxins in blood and impairment of the functions of brain cells, which originates disturbances of the central nervous system. A permanent contamination with xenobiotics and endogenous toxins, and increasing damage of oxidative stress cause fast progressing of non-communicable diseases (NCD) such as cardiovascular, neurodegenerative, chronic respiratory and kidney diseases, diabetes mellitus type 2 and cancer - the problems affecting affluent societies.” (Vina, Linde, Patetko & Semjonovs Feb 2013)
Glucuronic acid detoxes xenobiotics and how they define xenobiotics:
“Glucuronidation for detoxication and elimination of xenobiotics. Xenobiotics can be classified as follows: drugs (antibiotics, antipyretics/analgesics, cardiac drugs etc.); carcinogens, as some food colorants, preservatives and artificial sweeteners; environmental chemicals; tobacco smoke toxins, nitrosamines, alcohol etc.”
“It is considered that the detoxifying property of a Kombucha beverage is presumably due to the capacity of GlcUA to bind the molecules of toxins and the increased elimination of them by the kidneys or the intestines [67].
“The health-beneficial effects of Kombucha beverages are due to the presence of different vitamins of group B, vitamin C; antibacterial properties…”
“Many diseases can impair an individual's capacity to biotransform xenobiotics. A good example is hepatitis: it is shown, that Kombucha reduces hepatic detoxication to less than half of the normal capacity and prevents the paracetamol-induced hepatotoxicity [98]. Regular Kombucha beverage ingestion contributes significantly to weight gain inhibition and prolongation of the life span [99]. There are enumerated health effects, such as reducing the blood pressure, the possibility to relieve arthritis, to increase immune response and to cure chronic illnesses, caused by oxidative stress, like cardio-vascular, neurodegenerative, for example, Parkinson’s disease and cancer [27].
“Kombucha beverage can in human body by changing them to a more water-soluble compound for enhanced transporting and elimination [105].(2013)
More Benefits of GlcUA: Used in Pharmaceuticals and Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeries:
GlcUA and its oligomers (GAOs) are the components of pharmaceuticals and biocomposites, for example, HA has become a widely utilized substance among plastic and reconstructive surgeons as a hypoallergenic surgical material for reconstructing and building up tissues lost.
GlcUA and its oligomers are used as pharmaceuticals, for example, HA serves as a lubricant and shock absorber; heparin is used as an anticoagulant. GlcUA in the human body can be converted into chondroitin-sulphate associated with cartilage, collagen and the fluid that lubricates joints [93].

Kombucha Healthy Drink—Recent Advances in Production, Chemical Composition and Health Benefits
“Research on kombucha and its beneficial health properties has been performed since the late 20th century, so kombucha has been proven to be an efficient source of antioxidant, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and antiaging compounds, along with the capacity for improving the immune system and preventing some diseases, such as diabetes, hypertension, and cardiovascular diseases [8,9,10,11].”
“Kombucha has many beneficial effects on human health, such as detoxifying the blood and reducing cholesterol levels, blood pressure, kidney calcification, inflammatory problems, arthritis, rheumatism, gout symptoms, obesity, menstrual disorders, menopausal hot flashes, insomnia, stress, and nervous disturbances. Kombucha is also known to stimulate liver functions, glandular systems, the immune system, and interferon production; improve hair, skin, and nail health; improve eyesight; normalize intestinal activity and balance intestinal flora; and prevent the formation of bladder infections [4,44]. The beneficial effects of kombucha are known to be attributed to the metabolites released during the fermentation process. A few such health benefits are summarized in this review (Figure 3) based on available reports.” (Kitwetcharoen et al. 2023)

How to Make Kombucha Resources
Kombucha Kamp - I found Kombucha Kamp to be an informative source and they have many resources to help you learn to start making your own Kombucha tea if you need to because of price or just want to. You can then decide to use herbal tea or which type of tea and order their starter cultures and everything else you need.
Here is an article on how to make your own if you would rather do that and not use Kombucha Kamp.
I decided for now, to buy my mine. One, because I don’t know if I will have the same benefits if I make my own - because the article I reference above, GLUCURONIC ACID FROM FERMENTED BEVERAGES: BIOCHEMICAL FUNCTIONS IN HUMANS AND ITS ROLE IN HEALTH PROTECTION, emphasizes that Kombucha teas are not the same and some have a lot of glucuronic acid and some only have a little.
Two, I don’t always feel well enough to keep up with these kinds of things - I learned that while trying to make my own sourdough bread and the starter went bad from me not keeping it up correctly.
Three, buying it is easier for me right now. But if or when I do start my making my own, I will probably get my stuff from Kombucha Kamp.
Potential Toxicity Warning:
Kombucha fermentation is commonly homemade, and therefore it is important to be cautious because pathogenic microorganisms can contaminate the tea throughout the preparation. Some cases of health disorders have been reported by some individuals with suspected dizziness and nausea, severe illness, allergic reactions, and head pain, thus leading to its contraindication in pregnant and lactating women (Jayabalan et al., 2014; Srinivasan, Smolinske, & Greenbaum, 1997; Watawana et al., 2015). On the other hand, Vijayaraghavan et al. (2000) evaluated oral toxicity for 90 days in rats and any toxic signs were detected. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration also carried out some tests and reported that Kombucha tea is safe for human consumption. However, because of the previously mentioned reasons and to the microbiological complexity of this beverage it is always important to produce it under the FDA Model Food Code (Nummer, 2013).
