In People We Trust? In Gov't? 30% of People Have Psychopathic Tendencies. 1 in 6 are Narcissists. 1% are Psychopaths.
Many people are loving and kind. But 1% of the world is affected by high levels of psychopathy and 30% have low to mid levels of psychopathy like narcissists & emotionally immature: Who to Trust?
In People We Trust?
So many people are loving and kind, really. That’s why we blindly trust. We believe other people think and feel about others the same way we do - they want for the good of other people and all humanity.
I guess that’s why we’re not asking more questions about who controls AI or why the people who want war aren’t the ones who go to war. Or any other big thing that affects us all. Also, who has the time?
But 1% of the world is affected by high levels of psychopathy (like serial killers, etc) and 30% (HERE and HERE) have low to mid levels of psychopathic tendencies. It’s estimated that 1 in 6 people are narcissists (Dr. Ramani, Clinical Psychologist, expert on narcissim) - which means they will put money and things and their best interests ahead of the whole of society, even if that means screwing over others and destroying their health, body, and brain.
Narcissists would meet the low to mid levels of psychopathic tendency requirements.
A favorite tactic of psychopaths and narcissists are to claim that they are the true caretakers and victims of society and that those who go against them are the narcissists and psychopaths - the unloving and unkind.
Narcissists and Psychopaths are more charming, charismatic, and likable than most people, when they want to be - so this tactic works. Charm is learned.

Emotional Immaturity
ALL psychopaths and people with psychopathic tendencies like narcissists and those who meet personality disorder criteria, are emotionally immature.
But many people are emotionally immature.
Emotionally immature people, who do not meet the criteria for narcissism or psychopathy, do have empathy and sympathy for others - as long as it doesn’t directly burden or cause problems for them.
To be clear, we all have moments of emotional immaturity. None of us are perfect.
But there are people who have moments or seasons of acting in immature ways then course correct - and then there are people who live their lives in immaturity with no desire for self-reflection or attempts at maturing.
Selfishness, manipulative behavior, tantruming, whether covert or overt, and attempts to control and coerce others for their own agendas - are just how those who live in perpetual emotional immaturity conduct themselves in life.
It’s not that they want to hurt others - it’s just they want to feel good and feel good about themselves above all else - and if something gets in the way of that, they act out. Enablers allow this behavior.
So, we have psychopaths, narcissists, those with psychopathic tendencies, and the emotionally immature people - all who do not mind acting unkind, unloving, and manipulative to meet their end goals in life and get what they want - at the expense of others, to differing degrees.
Then we have the enablers, the fearful and cowardly, and the naive who do not stop them.
The Bible warns us of wolves disguised as sheep.
“Do not be naive” and “do not fear” we are warned throughout the Bible over and over.
Being naive makes us easy prey for the wolves and being afraid makes us too cowardly to go against known wolves and evils.
Nativity will have us going against people who warn us for our own good and side with the charming narcissists and psychopaths who seem so kind, mature, and trustworthy…an act they are very good at doing.
Jesus said people trusted in him, BUT he didn’t trust them because he knew man’s heart.
“Now when He was in Jerusalem for the Passover, during the feast, many believed in His name, seeing the signs He was doing.
But Yeshua [Jesus] did not entrust Himself to them, because He knew all men.
He did not need anyone to testify about man, for He knew what was in man.” John 2: 23-25

“The heart is deceitful above all things, and incurable—who can know it? Jeremiah 17:9
Many articles suggest that the jobs high functioning psychopaths, those with psychopathic tendencies, and narcissists who can go undetected by the majority of people they want to fool or charm, like to go into positions of control, influence, power, and money (HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE).
CEOs of companies, medical doctors, surgeons, dentists, law enforcement, mental health professionals, religious authority (pastor/priest/leader), lawyers, politicians, entertainment industry including influencers, media persons, salespeople, tech positions, military, real estate, marketing, and many other positions.
Many good people go into all of these positions as well.
However, sometimes we forget that anyone in a helping position is not necessarily in the position for the good of society or for any other person.
When someone is in any position for only what they get out of it - and there ends up being more to gain by lying, manipulating, influencing in deception ways, or destroying - that’s what they do.
Malignant Narcissicm
What to know about malignant narcissism
A person with malignant narcissism may harm others to gain attention, feed their sense of superiority, and get what they want. For this reason, a person may also have traits of antisocial personality disorder. These include:
disregard for or hostility toward the rights of others
aggression and violence
lack of remorse for harming others
a tendency to lie
breaking the law
chronic irresponsibility
impulsive or reckless behavior
A person with malignant narcissism may appear superficially charming. They may manipulate people to gain praise or lie about others to depict themself in a more flattering light.

But we’re hopeful those who end up in positions of power, influence, and authority are good, kind, and empathetic. And of course good people do end up in these positions as well.
But we’re too hopeful and not enough skeptical.
So, when spokespeople for the government and/or organizations and media, who state their care and concern for us, in authoritative and confident ways, with stern conviction and charm - we, being naive - meaning prone to believing that people in authoritative positions are good, kind, and not influenced to believe untrue statements nor fall for twisted agendas - tend to believe that:
People who speak on behalf of the government and organizations and in the media know the truth and were told the truth by people who know truth about a product or situation.
Money, power, and control did not influence the truth in any way and if it did, the spokespeople, scientists, journalists, government officials and others would speak out and let us know - which assumes that…
People in those positions do not fall for propaganda, are not fearful of losing their jobs, influence, position, and are not threatened in any way by any one in power above them.
We believe that somehow, someone, someway - the psychopaths, those with psychopathic tendencies, narcissists, and the emotionally immature people have been stopped from being media influencers, doctors, scientists, dentists, CEOs, government officials, politicians, lobbyists, and anyone else who would exert power, control or influence over people against other people’s best interest if it was in their own best interest to do so.
We are able to tell who is charming us for nefarious reasons vs who is a good, kind person. Research shows that only a very small % of people can accurately detect lies. Even those who say they can, even those with training, mostly cannot.
“Research has consistently shown that people's ability to detect lies is no more accurate than chance, or flipping a coin. This finding holds across all types of people — students, psychologists, judges, job interviewers and law enforcement personnel” (Personality and Social Psychology Review, 2006).
https://www.apa.org/monitor/2016/03/deception
“And while it is true that a very few people are better at detecting deception than others, they are barely above chance. In fact, those that are really good are only correct somewhere around 60% of the time; that means that 40% of the time they are wrong and you would not like them sitting on a jury judging you.” The Truth About Lie Detection: Humans are lousy at detecting deception by Joe Navarro, M.A., March 15, 2012.
“Decades of research have shown that people are poor at detecting deception. Understandably, people struggle with integrating the many putative cues to deception into an accurate veracity judgement.” (Verschuere, B., Lin, CC., Huismann, S. et al. The use-the-best heuristic facilitates deception detection. Nat Hum Behav 7, 718–728 (2023). https://doi.org/10.1038/s41562-023-01556-2
However, this newer study said that those lying provided more details in their story than people who are not lying which made their participants be able to detect lies with 80% accuracy, if they focused on that aspect.
Guess who else knows the outcome of that study? Yep, everyone trained in deception.
Former CIA agents, turned influencers Andrew Bustamante & John Kiriakou, are readily telling people that the CIA looks to recruit those with psychopathic tendencies. They need them to have shady morals. They train them to be more charming, deceptive, and manipulative.
Should we assume only the CIA agents are being trained that way? Zero training is needed for people to deceive or act maliciously but training and practice does make people better liars.
Plus, we would need to be able to talk one on one to those in charge to get the details of their story - and most of us cannot gain access.
We’re all pretty easy to fool given the right kind of person, charm, and level of our naive-ness about certain issues and the nature of humanity and the spiritual world that affects us.
“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the worldly forces of this darkness, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.” Ephesians 6:12
In God We Trust. In People We Must Be Skeptical.
Especially if they are in positions of authority, power, influence, and control.
Believers in Jesus can ask for guidance and discernment from the Holy Spirit about anything.
I’ve been too naive. I’ve trusted people and products and the media without seeking guidance and discernment.
My worldview and decisions have become very different after seeking God’s guidance and discernment. (I still mess up and don’t think to look into some things!)
The GOOD NEWS?
Yes, Jesus and eternal life :)
And also, here and now, in this life, love wins. The happiest people help people. Over and over research shows it, scripture tells us it, and people feel it.
Chase Hughes, Behavioral Expert, former military, says. “So many people tend to see life as a zero sum game. Somebody else has to lose in order for them to win. In reality, those who are most successful and the most happy in this world, are those who have helped the most amount of people. That’s the key. You get what you desire by helping other people do the same.”
Our health and happiness are amplified or diminished by who and what we trust in and what we do or don’t do.
I encourage everyone to look into anything the still small voice of God guides you toward.
